Constant change and movement--in geological formations, erosion, weather, light, sea and ice--are fundamental to nature and to my notion of landscape. Sometimes a painting suggests multiple, shifting natural forces over time, and sometimes it freezes a single moment and place in time. I want to interpret nature in landscapes, to abstract the elements of nature, not reduce them to a representational still image.
